CNA TRAINING

How to Apply - Information Session

Maine Medical Center's CNA program is an 11-week, day program, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  Ten (10) clinical days of the program run from 6:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The course is run three times a year (September, January, March).   The specifics of the program (and an
opportunity to ask questions) are provided at the Information Session.

In order to be considered for our CNA course, you will need to attend an Information Session.  These sessions begin at 6:00 p.m.   The next Information session will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 for our March 2015 class.  Click here to register for this information session.   Reminders will not be sent out so mark the date in your calendar.   A TABE testing - a reading comprehension test – will be administered during the Information Session.   Applicants to the CNA Program can take the TABE test only once during a year (a year from the date of the last TABE test taken)..

You will need to attend the information session and bring a completed application packet in order to be considered for the class.

To apply, you will be required to take the TABE reading test and will need to receive a score of 11 to 12.9.   We will administer the TABE test at the Information Session.

When you attend the information session, you must bring a completed application packet with you.  A completed application packet consists of:

  • One (1) completed Application form
  • Two (2) copies of a picture ID with signature (driver's license or State ID card)
  • One (1) copy of proof of High School Graduation or equivalency
  • Two (2) copies of Social Security Card
  • One (1) Signed SBI (State Bureau of Investigation) form (page 6 of Application)
  • Submit, in sealed envelopes, two (2) professional written references from people in leadership capacity only, for example, current and past supervisors.  If you have not been employed for the last few years, another source of reference such as teacher, volunteer group leader, or clergy are acceptable.

Please be sure that you bring photocopies of documents that we can keep, as we will be unable to make copies for you.

Following the Information Session, applications will be reviewed and selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview.
