A Gift to Miles

A gift to Miles is a gift to the people of Lincoln County, Maine.

Isabel Miles began the tradition of giving to Miles in 1941 when she donated  the land Miles Memorial Hospital now sits upon in honor of her husband, Samuel Miles.

Over the years, almost every improvement at Miles is the direct result of charitable support. Today, thousands of community members depend upon Miles Health Care for their health care needs. By supporting Miles, donors help us continue our mission of providing the very best in personalized health care to the families and friends of the communities we serve.

There are many ways that supporters can give to Miles.  Unless the donor wishes to remain anonymous, all gifts are listed in Miles Annual Report.

Campaign Giving

Every once in a while, a special program or project requires a separate funding appeal to make it a reality.   The Milestone Campaign, Miles' latest capital campaign, raised the funds necessary to expand and renovate Miles Memorial Hospital while dramatically improving patient privacy and confidentiality.  The Dorothy B. White Orthopaedic Center expanded Miles' very busy orthopaedic practice.

Specific Purpose Gifts

Miles has several restricted funds set up to raise money for specific purposes such as nurse education or a special type of equipment.  A list of these funds is available by calling the Miles Development Office at (207) 563-4570.

Annual Giving

 Annual Fund

Annual fund donations are vital to the continuing growth and well-being of Miles Health Care.  Funds raised by the Annual appeal are used to purchase new medical equipment and support programs and services needing additional income to maintain their high standard of quality.

 Lifeline "Lovelight Tree" Appeal

During the holiday season, donations are made to the "Lovelight Tree," which help provide elderly and disabled people in Lincoln, Knox, and Kennebec Counties with Lifeline units. These units help them live independently while maintaining the peace of mind knowing help is within reach.

Planned Giving

 Bequests

Bequests are gifts designated in an individual's will.  Bequests afford opportunities for perpetual memorials, for the creation and maintenance of vital programs, and for endowed funds to help assure continued excellence at Miles.

Income Gifts

There are many types of gifts that can provide current tax and financial  benefits to donors and future benefits to Miles.  Please call the Miles Development Office at (207) 563-4570 for more details.

Life Insurance

Life insurance can be a beneficial way to provide financial support by simply naming Miles Health Care as a beneficiary of an existing policy.

Special Gifts

Memorial Gifts

A Memorial Gift is a very special way to honor friends and loved ones who have passed away.  Each year Miles publishes both the names of the deceased and the donors in our Annual Report, and a notification of the gift is sent to a family member or friend.

Honorary Gifts

On special occasions such as anniversaries or birthdays, Honorary Gifts are given in lieu of presents or cards to honor a living family member, friend, or community leader.  Each year Miles publishes both the names of the honoree and donors in our Annual Report.  A notification of the gift is sent to the honoree.

Matching Gifts

Many companies and corporations have Matching Gift Programs.  These programs match any gift to Miles given by someone who is affiliated with the company or is a participant in the program.

Gifts-In-Kind

A Gift-In-Kind is a tangible, non-monetary gift of goods or services to Miles.

Cove's Care Fund

Established in loving memory of Beulah Isabelle Fabrick, R.N. and the estate of Carolyn Mercer, the Cove's Care Fund provides scholarships for the resident care staff at Cove's Edge and Chase Point.
